My Gym.. Body Bionic

Friday, March 06, 2015

I train at Body Bionic, which is a local family run gym in Thatcham. What I love about this gym is the friendly and supportive atmosphere there is, and how clean it is kept. I cannot recommend this gym enough!!

There is so much diverse equipment that will suit anyone and everyone's training regime. You have the Cardio Suite, Boxing Room with Ring, all your standard Weight Machines, Dumbells & Barbells, EZ Bar Curls, Olympic Bars, Squat Rack, Bench Press and a big range of Bumper Plates.

My favourite part of the gym is the Strongman/Strong(wo)man room (what we know it as) which has:

Yoke
Farmers Walk
75kg log
32kg log
Viking press
Atlas stones (30kg to 100kg)
Prowler
40kg Axle Bar
53 kg Circus/Monster Dumbell
Tyres (80/140/250kg)
18" Deadlift wheels
85kg Husafell stone
Barrels (10-45kg)

Nick Openshaw own's the gym and will support anyone who wants to go in to either Bodybuilding, Powerlifting or Strongman/ Strong(wo)man. He will also support people who just want to improve their overall health and well-being by offering diet and training plans.

Here is me with Nick Openshaw and Glenn Branch, after last year's Body Bionic Strongman/Strong(wo)man Competition! It was such a great day, I came last in this comp but was up against some awesome women, there were 4 of us in total!

Below are a few success stories from Body Bionic Members, with many other people currently in training to compete across the board. As always - these people will continue to get the support they need to perform at their best from the Body Bionic Crew. I look forward to doing a write up in the future with their progress ;)

Strongman

Here is Laiten Canning winning 3 x Novice Strongman Competition's Last year:

Newbury's Strongest Novice

Article on Newbury Today:

Powerlifting:

Glenn Branch has competed in all 3 - Body Building, Strongman & Powerlifting.

Powerlifting is his main focus now and is now East Midlands Full Power 90kg Call, Opens and Overall Champion. He competes in the BDFPA (British Drug Free Powerlifting Association) and recently placed high enough to receive an invitation to represent Britain at the World Finals!

Mark Anderson won his first powerlifting competition earlier this year.

Body Building

Nick Openshaw on stage at his Body Building Competition, he won at the BNBF (British Natural Bodybuilding Federation), came runner up in Southern Championships, won at Central Lon and placed 4th in British Finals! All of these are amazing accomplishments, and he passes down all his knowledge to anyone who is considering going into BodyBuilding.

Stu on stage at the BNBF Welsh Championships in 2014, he came 3rd. His transformation is amazing, which you can see from the picture below.
I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for all Body Bionic Athletes, and wish everyone the best for the future.

Have you competed in any of the above competitions? How did it go?

Have a great weekend!
Louise

  1. I'm so jealous of all the equipment you have! My gym has a lot of it, but no space to actually use it. Every time I want to train events, I have to go to a different gym (at least an hour away). Such a pain in the arse!

    1. Oh that does sound annoying...I guess from living in London you're limited with space! We are quite lucky with the space we have at our gym, we are moving to be a bigger unit soon as well :)
